For those of you who have rewigged an AG doll, what size wig did you use? I am planning to rewig one of my AGT dolls and am debating between two sizes. I don't want to take her current wig off until the new one arrives, so I had to measure over the wig to figure out her size, and I'm not sure how much I should compensate for that. The measurement I got was right around 12 inches, and the wig I want to buy comes in a size 10-11 or a size 12-13. I am thinking I should get the 10-11 since her actual head measurement should be below 12 inches once I get the current wig off, but I'm paranoid that the difference won't be much and the 10-11 will be too small. I've read that even if a wig is a little small it will stretch, but I'm still paranoid and don't want to waste my money. Any advice on the best size?

When I rewigged Ruthie, I took her (bald) to the store, and I'm very glad I did. I found that, depending on the manufacturer, she needed different sizes. Some 10-11s were fine, as were some 12-13s. I ended up with a Global brand wig in 11-12.
If at all possible, try on. That's my advice.

p.s. The bald AG head measures dead-on 12".

The size they are supposed to be is 10-11. I rewigged an AG with this and didn't have any problems, though people here have mentioned they have found them to be too small.
I recommend Kemper since they *usually* have a tab that makes the size adjustable. But if you can manage, don't buy it from them, but instead a supplier, because they charge shipping but don't let you know what it is until you get the bill! Let's just say I wasn't happy about it when I found out.

Kemper size 11 is a perfect fit. Global 10-11 is too small.
Size 10-11 is for a doll whose head is between 10 and 11 inches. AG is really between 11 and 12 inches. Also, the more you have to stretch the wig cap, the thinner the hair gets. If I had to choose between a 10-11 and an 12-13, I'd go with the 12-13.

AG heads tend to differ I think. When I rewigged my AGT I used a 11/12. It fits great. Her picture is my avatar. Measure the dolls head and go up a size if its inbetween what the company offers.
I also recommend kemper wigs due to the velcro strap. That way, if the 12 is ever so slightly big, you can adjust it.

Thanks for the advice, everybody...I'm glad I posted before ordering since after hearing your comments I am now leaning toward the bigger size! The wig I am considering is a Monique brand wig - anybody ever used one of those? I'm tempted now to go look through the Kemper wigs again and see if there isn't anything there I could use, though, because that velcro strap sounds like a really good idea. I have many Monique wigs and they are great. I buy either 11/12 or 12/13. I also have Kemper and Global. I don't glue the wigs on so that I can change hair style and color. I have 9 dolls that wear wigs.

Wig size can also vary by which style you have and which style you're going to. I've rewigged lots of AGs but have never been able to completely remove the original glue line. Especially with new AGTs like GT21 (the one with hazel eyes), there is a line of hair from the wig that is glued underneath the edges of the wig to make it look as if the hair is rooted. If the style you're switching to is short or pulled back away from the face, you could need a larger size in order to have enough wig to cover the glue line. I usually buy size 12 from Tallina's. Worst case, you can lightly pad the crown of the replacement wig, underneath the wig at the back of the head, to take up a little extra space. In sheer desperation, I used a 15 inch wig for the last ebay Josefina I bought because I couldn't stand having her look so hacked (she had been badly shorn) all weekend. It's too big in the back but I stitched a tuck up to the crown and she looks adorable. I prefer having too much hair and cutting it back to having too little, since most wigs don't stretch very well.

I have only rewigged a Gotz Precious Day doll and made the mistake of assuming she would wear the same size as an AG doll. Gotz doll heads are bigger (a problem for hats too). My new motto: measure twice, buy once!
